September–December 2024
It started in the Bronx.
Repurposed Life incorporated in September 2024 and began connecting reusable resources with families and public-housing communities.
Our impact
Repurposed Life rescues usable furniture, mattresses, household goods, and other essentials and redirects them at no cost to New Yorkers who need them.
Since Repurposed Life began in September 2024, reuse has grown from a neighborhood effort into a five-borough network.
We track donations so partners and communities can see what was kept in use.

2024–2025 documented total
By the end of 2025, our records documented 19,340 items given a second life instead of entering the waste stream.
2026 to date
Furniture, household goods, appliances, clothing, and other usable resources continue moving from donors into New York City communities.
Weight totals are operational diversion estimates based on documented donations and item records unless a donor provides a measured weight.
More than waste diversion
A mattress can mean a child no longer sleeping on the floor. A table can give a family a place to eat together. A dresser can help someone leaving shelter unpack into a space that finally feels permanent.
Repurposed Life brings environmental justice and housing stability together: usable resources stay out of the waste stream and go directly where they can be useful again.
